back at school

I got back to U of I yesterday, and I am living in Sherman Hall, an upperclassmen/grad. dorm, and am on the 11th floor! My suitemate (I share a bathroom with her) is really cool and friendly. Her boyfriend is actually a fencing buddy of mine. Speaking of fencing, I was working at the booth for The Point fencing club today, for Quad Day, and my duties included handing out flyers and fencing barefoot (I was wearing flip flops, but it was too obnoxious to fence in those). I hadn't fenced in a long time, and I was afraid of lunging on concrete with bare feet, so that was interesting. Apparently some of the "hilljacks" stopped by The Point's presentation and were upset that I was not there at the time that they came, because they sent me furious IMs saying I hadn't been where my away message said I would be (I left an away saying to come to The Point's presentation at Quad Day, but, after a while, I had to leave to do a security detail for Student Patrol, walking around IUB for 4 hours checking for shoplifters). Still, I had fun at Quad DAy, presenting, picking up other people's advertisments, seeing people I knew, and signing up for martial arts, yoga, and singing opportunities. I went to a "community meeting" for my dorm, and saw some people I know, including Amber, from my high school choir, with whom I afterwards had my first burrito at U of I. So, all in all, I am having a fun time back at school. Tomorrow, classes start. More later.
